Fortune 500 company that SHOULD be a dominant player to compete against Grainger, Office Depot, Staples and other large Supply Chain giants.

Cons

Poor vision, zero direction to employees. Management is vindictive in bad mouthing former employees when they leave too so watch out if you do leave !!

A Commission Nightmare...

Pros

For a straight commission sales rep in the Print Segment there are no pros other than paid healthcare in this company and a small 401K match. They are restructuring all commissions and paying less than any competitor in the market.

Cons

The company has launched new interim commission structures in a effort to shed a large portion of their sales force nationally. They say it's really to try and "streamline" the many structures throughout the company. The reality is that most reps are now earning much less money. They won't show documentation in writing on how they came up with the interim commission structures which are unique to each rep. They will just show you a single line on a spreadsheet and you're supposed to accept that it's accurate. The tool they now have for looking at your individual commission is cumbersome and doesn't allow export or true analysis of what you earned on each order. Another new commission structure will launch early next year with more expected losses for all reps. The hardest hit are Print Reps and the moral is at an all time low. You will lose 25-40% of your commission if your customer uses a credit card, you will pay all gas and entertainment expenses and will also pay out of your paycheck for any product you bring in for a customer that doesn't sell in under 90 days. Illegal? Probably not because they have iron clad sales agreements but it's certainly not ethical. As a Fortune 500 company their shame should run deep. They allow you to sell other products such as packaging but will pay you 30-50% less than a packaging rep makes on the same business. My advice to anyone seeking a sales job with Veritiv in Print...don't bother. The competition pays much better.

Pros

I know this will sound vindictive, petty, and that I have an ax to grind, but I really can't think of any pros

Cons

This is a disaster. What do you expect when you put two rival companies, that are identical in every way, together and expect to have one cohesive, harmonious, team oriented organization? This is the most political, disastrous attempt at a "merger" that I have ever encountered. They will have to contract 50% just to remain mildly competitive. Veritiv's competitors are chomping at the bit, as well they should be. Unhappy customers will be ripe for the pickin's.
