Pros

Benefits - Great 401K match, med insurance options are ok but pricey for the employee. Professional dress is nice. Short term incentives are nice but only pay out once a year.

Cons

Verizon Wireless raises the employee-responsible portion for med insurance each year. Mid-year and yearly reviews are a joke and almost impossible to achieve. You are either "Unsatisfactory,Developing, Performing, or Excelling." Yearly merit increases are based on this and your manager has a lot of discretion in where to place you. Human Resources is NOT your friend at VZW- they always back up their middle mgmt and leadership if you're either liked or not. Lots (and I do mean lots) of pressure to meet and exceed sales. You are thrown on a "Performance Improvement Plan" if goals are not met - this is a way for them to discipline you for not meeting sales goals. Your personal life WILL suffer from being a store manager - time off is hard to get and often met with frowns. Your district manager will threaten you daily if any goal is not met. Commission structure - this is changed yearly and designed to make it more and more difficult for the employee to make money. Sales associates often don't understand the pay structure because the commissions structure is changed yearly and complicated.

Pros

Good benefits. Low health care premiums.

Cons

Zero Leadership from Senior Management. Each Region seemed disconnected from the Corporate Mission. Each region created their own set of operating standards and never stayed consistent with the company message. After the Alltel merger, I believed in the company credo until I noticed their CREDO never left the paper it was printed on. Most stores ran like a high school without adult supervision. Retail employees were more concerned with playing with each other than serving the customers. It was accepted to make customers wait for hours and without apology treat them as if the rep was doing them a favor. SAD.

Pros

Good benefits and commission. Base pay is fair for retail management. In general fellow employees are friendly and easy to work with. A good place to interact with customers. The store environment is professional and clean.

Cons

Company clicks and favoritism may get advantages for some and not for others not in that click. Long holiday hours.
