Too Many Politics

Pros

Nice office in the seaport

Cons

Too many politics. Promotions seem to often be based on reasons that have nothing to do with job performance or qualifications. If you get on the wrong side of someone, you are in trouble and need to quit or get fired, because you aren't moving up.

Good Potential; but, Highly Smoke and Mirrors

Pros

Vertex is progressive with it's medicines for the CF population - several new drugs have been approved and launched in short amount of time to help better and further the lives of those living with CF. Science is at forefront. Benefits and perks for an employee are great and highly competitive _ ample vacation and holiday time, stocks and bonuses, many discounted programs, commuter benefits and excellent health insurance. If your a social extrovert, perfect place for you. Sponsored happy hours every Friday and many other "social events". Not so great if you're an introvert who goes to work, to work...

Cons

Lack of diversity. Lack of opportunities for supporting roles such as administrative or coordinator levels. Environment is that of a highly 'favoritized' and political one. Also, if you're not super social or are quiet, you're often outed as odd or not a "team player", even if you work hard and have high performance. In my experience, there is a very high school - esque, not inclusive environment. For me personally, there is a clear presence of a "mean-girl" mentality and subtle bullying in the form of gossip, hostile environment, sabotage and rumors.
