Pros

First would like to point out that I enjoyed my job here at Vertex but had to resigned due to various reasons below. Competitive salary, Work from home are the only positives with the company.

Cons

Despite the company's public emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and internal promotion from within, it appears that my manager may not have received the memo. Favoritism and nepotism seem prevalent, with contractors receiving preferential treatment over full-time employees. They are hired and promoted ahead of long-standing Vertex employees, even having the privilege of choosing their work shifts before more experienced full-time employees. Despite management offering apologies and assurances of improvement, promises often go unfulfilled. It's extremely important to exercise caution when providing feedback through company surveys, as there may be potential for retaliation from managers when expressing concerns about direct report managers, supervisors or even directors. There seems to be an armchair manager advancing in the Vertex corporate hierarchy at the expense of colleagues, subordinates, and the overall team, displaying typical corporate power-trip behavior while moving up the ranks faster then usual at this company. This does make you wonder how is this possible? hummm?

Pros

Company does a good job of vetting contract to Hire and keeping talent. Salary is above average for the area and the benefits are amazing with 100% 401K Match on the first 6%, and stock purchasing option that allows a 15% discount on the lowest stock price across a 6 month period (Max purchase 3750). Communication with leadership happens easily and readily and lots of lateral movement opportunities.

Cons

Larger communications can sometimes be slow, you can be on the inside track with information but leadership is dragging on communication to the larger group. However it should be noted that this usually because they want to shape the message and ensure a plan is in place to all involved once message is dispersed

Pros

The job is remote, hours are flexible, Vertex company onboarding is good. Team and job role training can vary.

Cons

Very low pay, unnecessary processes, weekend work, different processes for different teams doing the same work. Not only is the filing process at this company outdated and too long, it is a data breach waiting to happen! The processes are old, and I learned nothing about the actual company software. I was informed about the potential for overtime when I was interviewing, but whole working days (8-6) on the weekends are truly unnecessary for this kind of work, especially when delays can be prevented if you stop wasting time chasing down the customer for AUTH CODES and PASSWORDS! More filing can get done if processes were streamlined and full third party access is given to filers. This role could seriously improve with the integration of a password manager.
