Very grew too fast during the pandemic and were recently forced to do massive layoffs. There were also some toxic leaders (many are no longer with the company) who affected how much work Very acquired, which had a domino effect on the rest of the company. Furthermore, while members of the client-facing and leadership teams would receive regular promotions and pay increases, many ICs went without even annual cost-of-living raises. The culture shifted a lot over my 2+ years, and I hope it returns to its roots by focusing more on transparency and equal opportunity.

Very bad management, client management and product strategy. They tried to move from a software company to an IoT company that delivers systems of hardware and software and attempt to plan and execute projects like it was only a software product and predictable failed. They had no idea what they were doing which led them laying off half the company a year after I left. They hired "mechatronics engineers" despite having zero such projects in process or in the pipeline leaving many of them sitting idea. Very incompetent management with attention split between two different startups lead by the founder.
