Reading these comments, I know who this person is and don't want to spend too much time with my response other then to clear some false statements given. VSA does not have any independent contractors. All security officers and supervisors are paid hourly or in the case of a supervisor, they receive a salary. VSA currently has and has always had workers comp insurance as required under the law. I am just happy that this person is no longer with VSA.

Pros

Many posts are easy and laidback. Not alot of micro management.

Cons

Management jumps to conclusions and goes off half cocked. They do not provide properly maintained equipment and then blame employees when they don't use it. For example, golf carts and cheap electronic cars that require hours to charge for every hour of use but expect them to be in use at all times on a 24 hr post to patrol a large account.

Pros

I worked the graveyard shift and it was a casual atmosphere. I did the requirements and returned to the front desk where I was allowed to entertain myself as I saw fit. Mostly this was school work.

Cons

Communication with company had to go through supervisor, Poor communication all around with location and company.

WOW! This person admits that he or she simply went to work as a security officer and instead of patrolling and protecting our clients, they would rather sit at the desk and do their school work. But then also admits that they had to communicate with their supervisor, which is the normal chain of command in all businesses, but then says that VSA needs to listen to the employees before terminating them. Well I applaud the VSA supervisor who detected that this security officer was not performing the duties correctly and took the proper action in terminating this employee. After all this person admitted in this blog that they simply would go to work and work on schoolwork or whatever else they wanted to do.
