Pros

Laid back environment. Flexible work hours under certain circumstances. Good stepping stone if you're looking to grow your career down the line.

Cons

One of the things Victaulic preaches is that employee well-being is a top priority, yet they have failed miserably at handling the COVID-19 pandemic by forcing their employee body to go back to the office at the height of said pandemic because they were classified as an "essential business" by the government. Social distancing is not respected within their offices and the temperature scanners they have installed at employee entrances are clearly defective. I have even witnessed some employees walking around common areas without wearing a mask. Recently there was a spreader event within one of the departments and company leadership refused to release that information to the rest of the employee body...so if you want to catch COVID-19 this is the perfect place for you! Unfortunately, the IT department is under the financial branch of the organization. Meaning that it's led by people that do not meet the necessary qualifications to assess business needs in terms of technology or information security effectively. As a consequence of this I have seen extremely talented employees, that held key positions in IT, leave Victaulic for better opportunities during my time of employment. The sad fact is that neither department leadership nor HR seem to be concerned about backfilling the aforementioned positions with people that are capable of properly carrying out the duties of those who left the company before them. Another alarming fact is that IT middle management has endured three changes in leadership within the span of five years, nurturing a very unstable and gloomy work environment for IT employees. IT, like a ship with no set course, will end up crashing into the proverbial iceberg, which in turn will probably lead to a downsizing and outsourcing of the current workforce. For prospective candidates that are looking to grow or advance at Victaulic: this is not the place for you, go look elsewhere. Victaulic IT is for people that are either looking to gain some experience and/or training to eventually leave the company or people that are looking to coast until retirement.

Pros

There is a cafeteria on site. There is a second cafeteria on site. Involved in many local charities.

Cons

Working from home is NOT an option under any circumstance: inclement weather, pandemic, sick, or just because it's 2020 and the majority of companies allow their employees to work from home part time. Nepotism is not uncommon. New roles are either created or given top priority to friends/family of executive management. Lack of diversity. No transparency. Lags behind many companies in salary but will spend money in other exorbitant ways. Will also expect employees to pick up additional work or roles without compensation. Bonuses and annual raises are bare minimum. Dress code is business attire. PTO days cap out at 25days after you work there for approx 30 years. Don't worry, you have the option of buying days with the below average pay you receive. You don't get sick days.

Pros

Excellent group of people that are intelligent, courteous, and down to earth. Never felt like there was office politics. Average salary, but excellent benefits. Great opportunities.

Cons

If it is your first job out of school, you won't know how good it is.
