Pros

They have some great training staff, good benefits, and a positive work environment. Good executive leadership (VP-C level) and strong products.

Cons

They pitch this idea that the software sells itself, but it does not. The construction industry is extremely slow to change, and if they are interested in looking at accounting software, Viewpoint is usually the most expensive. For inside sales, no one hit their goals (out of 20 employees) and all they do is make it more difficult by reducing the territories and adding more reps. They claim to have LDR who are setting up leads but all they do is just respond to paid leads, so it still leaves you to cold-call in a space where meeting face-to-face is the best way to do business. They also do not promote from within, so don't listen to that BS. The current management over the inside sales team is a used car salesman who pretends to get the construction space and then tries to strongarm you into doing things his way or the highway. The underpay for the software space and really don't have good comp plans unless you hit your target + 25% (again, nobody hit the target this last year and only 3/20 were close).

Pros

The tech department at Viewpoint is full of dedicated staff who want to help the customers and help each other. The different support and engineering teams are close knit in a way that most companies want to see. (Low level) management is great for this large of an organization. The managers who have direct reports who work in the tech department care about their staff in a way that is fairly rare in large corporate environments. Great ESSP offering, normal 401k Again, my coworkers across the tech department were wonderful at Viewpoint and I've remained in contact with most of them.

Cons

Working with staff or teams outside of the tech department is hit and miss. There are too many people who think it is a visionary question to ask "but we can we do?" when faced with a technical reality. There are a few customers that are, to put it mildly, difficult to work with. The lack of transparency between customer service, sales, and tech teams creates significant hurdles for "line" employees and creates a very negative environment that causes burn out. "The customer is always right" isn't a useful model for a SaaS or PaaS business, and leads to a lot of scenarios where system admin staff are getting pinched between development and support needs. The difficulty of work between sales / customer service / tech once again creates a problem here when technical teams are left to backpedal with angry customers. The lack of support for burnout/stress outside of immediate management is overwhelming, and coupled with strict "blackout" windows for PTO creates work environments that do not line up with the pay. The HR department is unable to provide written policies for critical questions (PTO usage for emergencies, WFH policy, RTO question, medical concerns, ADA compliance, etc), which creates even more stress on top of the blackout window PTO policy for staff. This may be due to the ongoing integration with Trimble, but for an employee it creates a very unstable work environment. Across the company, like many corporations, everyone wants to loop in managers to every conversation and creates headaches to CYA because a lack of 'ownership' permeates everything

Pros

Good benefits including health insurance and vacation time.

Cons

Negative, gossipy work environment. Management not trustworthy; concerned with advancing own careers at expense and detriment of the subordinates. Salaries not commensurate with industry standards. Team lacks coordinated leadership, leaving team feeling confused and further feeding toxicity and dysfunction.

Pros

Actual Work / Life Balance, they don't just talk the talk they walk the walk and understand that people have real lives and they are willing to work with you no matter what you have going on in your life. Real people of all age ranges that are not only nice but have experience and are willing to help you A fun work environment that rewards hard work. ZERO Micromanaging! Great growth opportunities across the company, they encourage moving around and even check in every 4 months to hear what you want to do next.

Cons

The pay is lower than what you might get somewhere else, but having no stress is worth it. I made more money before coming here but don't regrate it for a second. Requirements to come back to the office 3 days a week, even when all of the jobs can easily be done remotely, as proven when everyone worked remotely during Covid.
