- Had to work occasional weekends and had to have an after-hours phone that clients could call at 3am or whatever time they wanted to (was not told about these factors when I accepted position)
- Took forever to actually build a caseload (spent much of the time bored and not engaging with clients)
- When working with clients, did a lot of transporting clients to various appointments/helped them move into a new apartment/observing cleaners while they cleaned a client's apartment
- A ton of work around referring clients to other services and not actually working with them on their issues
- Job description looked good on paper but did not match what I actually did
- Did not feel like the skills I learned in grad school and in previous jobs were being used
- Felt that we were walking a fine line between providing services and glorified hand-holding/babysitting
- Essentially no training by supervisor (so I had no idea what to do and when)
- SO MUCH PAPERWORK (spend more time doing paperwork than working with clients)
- Culture that was constantly worrying about what DMH was gonna say they did wrong next, since Vinfen is a DMH contractor
- I was told that "we are not clinicians - we are outreach workers" by my supervisor. Um, excuse me?
