Pros

Great company, great mission. You really feel like you are helping people. Pension Plan that vests after 5 yeas (if you make it that long) Much of staff are nice and friendly (as I would hope for Human Service). If you work in the field, there's lots of room to move around the organization.

Cons

Poor pay. Benefits are minimal. Very high turnover. (very high). There's a large gap in longevity in employee. Most people are under 2 years or over 5 (or over 10 years). No in between. This poses a problem for new employees who want to change the organization some, as many older managers are not receptive to change and will make sure it never happens if they do not agree with it. HR Is pretty useless, seems like they don't care nor want to rattle any cages (but they really need to). Some of managers and supervisors really need to be dismissed. Many have been there for a long time, and it shows they need to move on or be put into other roles. The good people always seem to leave. You'll get a great employee and they won't stay because of poor pay, poor management, and high work load. And then you're left with the bad employees who don't do their job, who just refuse to leave (and HR refuses to do anything about) Seems that field workers and managers are more concerned with paper work than anything else. Wasteful and Mind boggling spending. The way programs are funded via contracts is maddening. Very big differences from program to program. Some programs are state of the art and have loads of money, while others are total dumps on a shoestring budget. They'll sink millions into a new program, only to close it a year or two later when the contract runs out. Waste of money. Yet they don't have money to pay their front line workers more. (your tax dollars at work!)

Vinfen Corporation - not as nice as they'd like to seem

Pros

The IT department is full of really nice people, so that's a plus.

Cons

When you're salaried they'll take advantage of you without time off or compensation. You'll be looked down on if you're in the corporate offices, especially if you're young.
