Pros

Great work environment. Great to get funded for your Masters. Stipends are reasonable considering low cost of living. Virginia Tech in general is filled with awesome people and great outdoor opportunities for the necessary stress relievers for your masters program

Cons

Like any funded student, you will work hard. Balancing classes and research can become cumbersome. Sometimes, your left feeling burnt out and struggle to close out semester.

Pros

Virginia Tech is one of the best schools in the country for STEM fields, so you will be getting a very good education. It's in a quite place, which can be a good thing because there is more time to focus and there is a lot of activities occurring around the school.

Cons

It is basically in the middle of nowhere, which can be a headache sometimes. Eventually the town feels small, and the nearest city is about three hours away. Also, the closest airport (Roanoke) is very small and doesn't provide many traveling alternatives.
