Pros

Hands on learning experience definitely motivated me for my future endeavors in the medical field. GREAT to do if you are in undergrad.

Cons

Demanding role for not enough pay. We are expected to know almost as much as the doctor however not receiving half of what their paycheck is.

Pros

I love that Vituity has a new initiative to tackle their APP retention rate. Poor APP retention is an unfortunate trend noted in many companies for various reasons. Studies show that giving APPs more decision making power, leadership positions, and room for growth into other positions WITHIN the company encourages them stay long-term. Working in healthcare, in general, is not always easy. So, some of the hardships associated with my job are just the run-of-the-mill grievances. 130 hours full time for my position offers a great work-life balance. Onboarding with Vituity was great. After I was hired, they surveyed me to ask about my hiring experience, what could be done differently, and how I enjoyed my first new-hire orientation dinner/symposium. Then, they paid me for this survey! They also held a 12-week training program when I first started which included monthly case reviews with on of my attendings. You have online access to Vituity University which helps with CMEs. Communication is easy. Team is awesome. 401k match is one of the best in the biz. Vacation and PTO is top notch (4 weeks PTO/2 weeks sick leave a year for newbies). Medical benefits are somewhat expensive, but I was also used to being a nurse for a national corporation which afforded me incredible rates, so perhaps I'm a bit out of touch with reality? Outreach and networking is fantastic. CME and licensing reimbursement is standard. In addition to their CME allowance, they organize 2 of their own conferences/symposiums a year and pay for your hotel. Pay is site specific, so I can't speak too much on that. Collectively, PAs/NPs are referred to as APPs which is so much better than being called a midlevel provider (who wants midlevel care??)! They have various sites in several states, so there are plenty of opportunities. As someone who has been offered higher paying and more prestigious positions with other companies, I am working hard to stay with Vituity (despite our recent contract loss) because of all of these reasons. They have also been working really hard, despite the recent loss, to help us all secure new jobs with Vituity!

Cons

Just like with any contracted group working with hospitals, there is always the chance that you may end up on the chopping block when another group comes in promising savings, outperformance, and the moon. This is not unique to Vituity. As a nurse working in hospitals for years before becoming an NP, I saw this happen to many great physician groups. That's business as usual.
