Pros

Amazing source of medical experience at the cost of low pay. Challenging and rewarding work. Great way to network in the medical field if aspiring to break into the medical field (Letter of recommendations, shadowing, etc). I have made lifelong friendships and connections with nurses, physician assistants, and doctors through this job.

Cons

High turnover rate Medium to highly stressful No benefits Low pay Quality of life (scheduling, privileges, workplace culture, etc) is highly dependent on site.

it was very helpful and exciting to see new cases at the Emergency Room every single day of the week

It was a high stress environment, with little pay and a lot of rules and regulations that had to be followed

Good experience with fast paced ER. Learned a lot about EHR. Got to work in the atmosphere of a hospital.

Cons

Pay is terrible. The providers treat you poorly. Management doesn’t advocate for you and let’s you get treated poorly. Training is stressful and demanding.
