Pros

Union company; Voith is always striving to do more and be better than their competitors so there are many different things to be involved in, most of the management staff tries to be fair and do the right thing. Voith recognizes that while education is important there are other cotributing factors therefore a college degree isn't necessary for advancement within management.

Cons

There is no human resource department on site only located at corporate office, the management staff is composed of the typical "white males"; work is contractual job bids from different automotive companies as contract comes to an end there is the unknowing of whether "said company" will renew contract; voith rarely promotes within, few women or black males in management and no black women in management.

Pros

Great Global Market Reputation, Good Brand to show on your resume, Few employees are exceptional.

Cons

Greedy, Aged, and Bygone Management who refuse to move with the current trends. Horrible Paymasters, deceiving in their promises and lack of concern for developing young employees. Lack of sympathy for employees. They deprive you of basic freedom and when they give you basic rights they boast it from the top of a moutain. Horrible work-life balance with no regard to the employee's benefits or well-being. Word of advice to young employees: if you have the opportunity to work at a different renewable energy company please go there even if it means taking a lower paycheck. You will be happy in the long run.

Pros

Great products, hydroelectric generators and turbines, pretty much all products are fascinating, travel opportunities, great technical minds within the engineering department, social events, friendly colleagues.

Cons

Most of the Senior and Executive Management are incompetent and fail to read ground level situation. They are great at pretending they know whats going on in their departments but at times they are clueless about the overall process. As a result they cannot see through the excuses/information some of their team members feed them. Some managers prefer to hire employees who could be made easy scapegoats later and who wont challenge unjust decisions. Managers sometimes hire and promote individuals who are lacking basic qualifications and skills to do the job while the executive management sits back and watches the show. Especially in HyService, Manufacturing and Quality Departments. Management loves to promote their so called speak up culture but what it really means is to speak up only if you have something nice to say. God forbid if you provide any comments or criticism, there is a high probability you will be labeled as "not being a team player". Management fails at presenting their views to the Germany HQ and allows Germany HQ to force their irrelevant processes and mentality down onto North American operating units. Annual employee review process is degrading, ExComm members go around the table and toss each employee's name up and have an open discussion in front of all managers. If you happen to take "speak up" culture seriously one year, you will most likely have a bad review the following year. Lastly, colleagues in HyService department get away with "working from home" while their colleagues in the office wait for information (not exactly the speed and ease that we preach to our customers).
