Pros

Birthday celebrations, off-site quarterly outings, super casual work environment, annual performance reviews, newest external technology), bring your dog to work days, monthly all hands meetings, plenty of parking, etc

Cons

Pay increases and job titles were not given objectively, and titles were not appropriate to the actual work being done. In some ways it was incredibly transparent but in other ways you wondered wtf was going to happen to the company. Regular, consistent layoffs were scary.

Pros

The office has a nice and fun environment, benefits are decent and you get paid bi-weekly, that's honestly about it.

Cons

I worked there for almost three years and looking back on it now, it was like working in a cult. They brainwash you with all of these cool employee activities and fun perks, and you stay because you feel like this means you are valued and somehow you are making a difference, but in reality---management, HR, and execs could care less about you. I am so glad I left. When it comes down to it, they would rather lay off 10-20 people at time-multiple times a year, consistently, than to give up the shiny employee activities, and free t-shirts. I've NEVER worked at a company that has its values so wrong. In theory, their values sound amazing and that is what draws you in, but that's not the reality of working at Volusion. I honestly feel so disappointed and let down. I had so much hope and excitement for my career there and so did many of my colleagues, but ultimately you are just a number in a budget and when it comes down to it they will cut the employee workforce down to the bare bones in order to keep their image of "One of the top places to work" with their cool perks and fun workplace. It's heartbreaking, and I hope they realize the damage this is taking on their brand and remaining workforce. One of the first things I heard when I started working there was about the company history (within the past 5-10 years). I heard how scary the layoffs "used to be" but that it wasn't like that anymore...I wish I would have listened. Some advice if you decide to risk it and take a job there even after reading all of these honest reviews, always keep your resume up to date and continue to keep searching for the next job.
