Pros

Well established and respected company in its fields. Very good benefits and career advancement potential, coupled with down to earth people and open door policy at all levels make it one of the better places I've worked at.

Cons

Not a big brand recognition outside of its industries. Grace has been in Chapter 11 for 7 years, not due to financial distress, but to protect itself from asbestos liability. Much of the newer Sr Leadership was bred at General Electric, bringing in too much short term P&L focus for a company that works in long industry cycles.

When I first hired in I thought Grace would be a great place to work but that turned out not to be the case.

The only pro working for Grace is they do offer a competitive salary.

Cons

Lack of integrity in management. Disconnect between management and employees. Disconnect between corporate management and front line supervisors.

Pros

Good for starting careers, for youngsters who need to learn a lot. If you are a mediocre person, you probably can stay there for ever.

Cons

Lots of politics, company exists for happy few at the top. Decisions are taken in favor of those happy few and are therefore opportunistic. Changing their mind all the time. No long term visions synchronized with strategy and company culture. They don't like people who take ownership and accountability. If you are a conscious person, stay away from them!
