      Pros

      Very strong culture, and people that can't fit in are normally rejected like a virus. Generally, good people are listened to. If you are good at what you do from a technical standpoint, you will be valued. Bonus pool is good. A good results for company is good for the employees.

      Cons

      Very strong culture, and if you don't fit you will be unhappy. Health care plan is very poor at the 6K deductible for a family for Blue Cross.

      Mature technology with good market share after merger with Western Digital. Co-workers are easy to get along with.

      Cons

      Potential more consolidation and uncertainties when HGST and WD are completely merged in 2 years.

      Good place to work for an Engineer

      Pros

      Strong technology company with good values. Fun place to work for a process engineer - the read/write head fabrication is challenging and involves complex integration. Most of the decision making is data driven.

      Cons

      Few opportunities to grow - the company is full of long time employees (from IBM days) making it difficult for a new engineer to grow. Lacks a strong training department or rotation policy to expand technical skills.
