Pros

Initially I enjoyed it, worked with great teams at first and had fairly interesting projects that I developed my skills with.

Cons

Terrible for entry level. Onboarding training is nonexistent, so company standards for CAD and other templates take a long time to learn. Incompetent and unprofessional managers are put in charge of projects, and do not respect younger staff’s time. There are little to no new projects unless you are in corporate headquarters. Regional offices can’t retain staff because of a lack of work - yet they pretend that there is a ton of it. Culture is toxic. Direct and upper management do nothing but mentally drain you on a regular basis. Ideas for growth and requests for training are ignored.

WGI Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we regret that your experience didn’t reflect the values, we strive for at WGI, we’d like to offer some clarification for others reading this. We’re proud of the fact that WGI has experienced more decades of consistent double-digit growth across our national platform. That growth is driven by the talent, creativity, and commitment of our team members—and we invest accordingly. Each year, we dedicate a significant budget specifically for employee training and development, including onboarding, technical certifications, leadership development, and role-specific upskilling. Regarding design standards, especially CAD templates, we recognize that they can be complex—but that’s largely because many times they must conform to rigorous state and federal agency requirements. These aren’t always arbitrary or internal-only protocols. We offer support, training and guidance to ensure team members are comfortable learning and navigating them. As for leadership engagement, we’re genuinely disappointed if any employee felt unheard. WGI fosters a culture where good ideas are welcomed and recognized, and it’s not uncommon for employee-driven initiatives to evolve into company-wide best practices. Feedback is something we value—whether through our open-door policies, engagement surveys, employee forums or town halls. Continuous improvement is our goal, and we are always working and open to enhance our practices. We encourage both current and former team members to bring their concerns forward constructively so we can continue to grow—together.
