Pros

- Cool company and free product +1 - Wellness stipend and decent company swag - 100% remote - Reasonable starting pay for a support role (though they've lowered it) - OT is offered regularly

Cons

- Mandatory quarterly shift bid based on tenure - Strict PTO policies with "group allowance" limitations and adherence penalties - Becoming a call center operation - very little autonomy - MICROMANAGEMENT. - Disorganized and disjointed communication, everyone then blames each other - Zero forethought given to employee development and little room for growth - Meaningless "stretch opportunities" - Prioritization of external hires for open roles over developing internal talent - Seconding a previous review calling out "fear-based management" - Culture is not what it used to be, people are tired and unhappy If you're looking to get a foot in the door at WHOOP by taking a Membership Services role, don't bother. The department as a whole is almost a separate operation from the rest of the company run by burnt out middle managers who, as a result, are ill-equipped to be compassionate leaders and care more about appeasing shareholders with metrics that prove "on-demand support" claims than they do the wellbeing of their employees. (The "on-demand" part of it really just means a teleperformance agent in the Philippines will promptly acknowledge a support request before it ever gets escalated to a WHOOP team member. It doesn't mean the support will be particularly helpful or effective - but it's definitely on demand.)

Our Membership Services team is vital to our success, which is why it’s important to provide the necessary framework and structure to scale. We truly appreciate the input, as you raise some great points and have given us a lot to think about as we continue to evolve as an organization.

Pros

I truly value the people I’ve met here and wish them the best in their careers beyond WHOOP.

Cons

Toxic boys club. Seriously if you’re not a white male, you will struggle here. Decisions are made behind closed doors while strategy is top down, but lower levels are blamed for any missteps. Leadership is able to flip flop on huge decisions but everyone else is held accountable, told to forego due diligence and research, and forced to carry out strategy that prioritizes financial gain over what’s best for members. Leadership and manager positions are overly represented by white men. There’s a lack of feedback culture and the majority of voices are constantly squashed. The gate-keeping means a select few consistently take credit for others’ work and get rewarded. Don’t expect to be paid equitably across levels, genders, start dates. HR manipulates and tone polices instead of listening, using intimidation tactics to retaliate and keep people quiet. Teams across product, software engineering, and design are consistently pushed to work late nights and weekends. For a company whose mission focuses on recovery, they offer 5 counted sick days with restrictions. Leadership has been tone deaf to the pandemic and at times cruel in their communication. In the middle of the pandemic they revealed a new policy where people need to request work from home days and are only allotted 7 per year (again with heavy restrictions), further showing they do not care to be inclusive.

Pros

The product is amazing and that was what brought me to this company. Everything outside of membership services is where there are some great initiatives to benefit the product and user.

Cons

Cutthroat feedback loop. Whenever you give feedback to HR or upper management for the betterment of the company + people they push back in a very closed-off way and are not supportive. Upper management is a mess and it truly is a boys club. There is no positive action and any feedback (if not met with pushback) is put to the side. Not all direct reports to upper management are met with the same expectations -- again VERY much boys club -- even if it is the same title and responsibilities.
