      There always seems to be something exciting around the corner

      These days, WHOOP operates much like a rudderless ship. Celebrity-want-to-be-CEO Will is often nowhere to be seen because he is too busy gallivanting around the world cozying up to elite A-listers to run his company. He relishes in the fame and fortune rather than sitting down and getting the work done. It's comical because just a few weeks ago, he unilaterally decided the company would be returning to a 4 day a week in person policy; meanwhile, he barely even shows up himself. When he is here, he gets caught up in the minutiae of every project, failing to see the bigger picture of what is going on. His over reliance on his chief-of-staff and other support staff are an intractable crutch that get him through the day, and hide the fact that at this point he has no grand ideas for the future of his company. To top it off, he recently posted on his Twitter account praising a certain former president, rallying around a very politically sensitive issue which read as extremely tone deaf and divisive. I'm ashamed that he is the CEO of this company and ashamed to work for him.

      - Cutting edge technology - Amazing office

      Cons

      - It's concerning that software leadership is imposing a strict policy requiring employees to be in the office four days a week while the CTO is working remotely from California. - No bonus, No free lunch except Mondays and Friday starting sep 2024 if you come to office! - No 100% commute reimbursement! - No 401k match

      It's not so glorious

      Pros

      - Really interesting product line to work with - Solving complex challenging and rewarding problems - Great place to level up your technical career

      Cons

      - Work life balance is joke, engineers are constantly grinding. Nights and weekends are normal hours for some. Some engineers are just workaholics. - Product for some reason thinks they control deadlines, so software has to crunch to make ends meet. This is also create a toxic relationship between product and engineering. - We keep rushing out software, and then are shocked when the things go wrong. - Mandatory Hybrid policy while most other companies are offering remote. Office is not easy to access location in city (Fenway) - Despite everyone giving it their all, the company itself is not performing well. Growth has been stagnant for almost 2 years. And two rounds of Layoffs. - The worst of all, is Whoop tried to acknowledge these problems last summer, but I see we are just repeating them over and over. - There are many features in the Whoop app that are abandon, and we never polish features, just jump to the next new shiny thing.
