Pros

Might be a good job if you have no college degree. You can start as a lower level employee and if you meet all the goals and kiss butt, you can be promoted to management. Back in the early 00's, WPS would plan all sorts of employee appreciation events. This felt good! Even though work was sometimes crazy and taxing, at least we're getting free bagels and pens~! It really made a difference. That stopped around 2007. Now they treat their employees like children. Even the big company picnic is now a big, cheap joke.

Cons

Overtime can be brutal, in all divisions. This is especially hard on single parents. They don't care one bit if your child is sick or if YOU are sick. Management is not trained on working with different age groups, other diversities. What upper management cares about is the numbers, that's it. Circumstances do not matter. Managers are mostly egotistical bullies who have no idea what their staff actually do.

Pros

*Depending on the department, coworkers are extremely talented, kind, and willing to go out of their way to help. I had a few stellar supervisors in my time who have made me a better person. *Ability to "make a difference" serving active duty and retired military and their families.

Cons

*Repeated loss of government contracts resulted in at least one layoff per year starting in 2021, usually between 4-15 people per layoff in my department. *Full reversal on all employee initiatives in the name of "compliance" to anti-DEI government mandates, including removal of five ERGs (including one for veterans) and their employee council. *Benefits shrank, including a reduction in 401k match, higher insurance premiums, and RTO. At the time of my departure RTO varied by department. *Depending on the departments you work with, you will have to endure transphobic, racist, and rude comments. Compliance will tell them to stop, but that was it.

Pros

Can't think of anything anymore besides the people I work with currently who are hanging on for dear life.

Cons

Look elsewhere. They just outsourced all of IT. Return to work was just announced for everyone starting in Sept 2025, even if you have a valid accommodation in place. And the insurance has such poor coverage that it costs a fortune to pay out to get your medical exception run again to stay home so you don't die from a disease because they cut back on cleaning the building to save money. The down turn is so noticeable that folks are abandoning ship faster than rats would if it were sinking.
