Not What It Used To Be

Pros

Salary is descent. People are great

Cons

Executive leadership refuse to staff to the needs of the group. As a result, workloads are out of control driving 70+ hour weeks. Some staff are able to claim OT even if they are exempt while others cannot. Senior management Try to get results by cussing you out in front of peers and other executives.

Big Company - Big Projects

Pros

With a big company comes the opportunity to work on big projects. However, project type varies by office - Connecticut projects tend to be mostly program management and DSDC related with minimal design work opportunities for younger engineers.

Cons

Management asks for a lot of free time from younger employees. Biggest con is that time off is lumped together as sick time and vacation time (16 days) and cost of living increases (2-3%) never cover the increase in medical insurance. It also seems that the only way to get a raise or promotion is to threaten to leave...
