Pros

A great foundation of what NOT to do when running a retail business. A strong education on how NOT to treat employees for future reference. Discounts on shoes. Overpay employees to stay, so if you can deal with the toxic environment you can earn at least 30% more than a position pays elsewhere (Corporate Only) Great stepping stone for a short time if you have talent. Even better place if you have no talent.

Cons

Extremely toxic work environment. Top heavy in management, skeleton crew at the key positions that drive the business. Very poor infrastructure. Outdated systems. Very limited growth ability due to lack of cash and inexperienced management team. Potentially out of business by 2016. Treats store staff like prison inmates. No recognition of accomplishments. Owner & President believe in negative reinforcement management styles. They strive to keep you just insecure enough not to leave.

Pros

Working with people my age..

Cons

It was all fun and dandy until I started to realize what kind of people my co-workers, and managers were. Being the only African American Employee, there was always some kind of elephant in the room. From spanish-spoken insults (assuming I wouldn't pick up on it), to being overworked, and yelled at for things I could have stopped and fixed in just a second, I've always felt like someone that did not belong with this company. It could have just been that store in particular, but the manager was very corrupt, and did not like making any accommodations for her employees. Not to mention, some of her practices were illegal, and could have resulted in her being fired/possibly prosecuted, but no one would listen when brought up in a conversation. Working in the actual store is a pretty annoying chore as well. Being a very patient person, I had no problem helping customers and doing my normal duties and a little extra, BUT with the way our store was very unorganized, I wasn't able to work as fast as I had wished. If a customer is looking for a shoe and the stock system says that the shoe is available, you have to go look for it upon a HUGE pile of old boxes of shoes in the back that never sold from the previous years. While all of this is happening my manager is scolding me and taking random trips to go eat burgers with her boyfriend while the store had customers in it. The team I worked with always had something to report about me behind my back, and it sucked majorly because I could never find out who it was. Oh, Don't expect anything over $9/Hr unless you're ready to kiss some serious butt. You have to get promoted just to be a cashier (what a joke) As far as being trained, all the manager did was show me around and told me to get to it. We were constantly pressured to up our sales, yet nothing in the store had changed (out of stock in many shoe sizes/colors/styles) and every single day it was getting increasingly difficult to deal with working at this joke of a company. This is not me venting, or trying to trash the name of the company, but there are lots of things that need to be evaluated and changed in order for them to thrive in the future.

The hours can be a down fall, but co-workers made time fly by.
