Pros

Worldwide Express represents the meaning of reward. The company rewards with knowledge through informational trainings for the field in order to add on more clients and maintain current client relationships. Furthermore, the company rewards with compensation for those who have successfully exceeded, which in turn is continually motivating. Worldwide Express is a starting point for building a lucrative career and future. If you put in the work, it definitely pays off.

Cons

In order to add on more clients, you have to be willing to deliver a competitive edge as well as utilize learned information from trainings.

Pros

Very few. you will make some good friends and have some good war stories from the field but don't count on an opportunity you might see on their web page.

Cons

I was on both the sales and management side of the business. I left the organization on my own accord, so I am not writing out of sour grapes or vindictiveness. I can say honestly that there are far better entry-level sales opportunities than Worldwide Express. The compensation is sub-par. You will be given a small base salary with commission but hitting full commission is next to impossible; i saw it done maybe 3 times in 3 years. As a rep you MIGHT make $38-40k your first year (depending on your base) and $40-42k second year. With the hours you will put in you will be making $15-16/hr. Vacations are frowned upon internally, and because of the culture of the office you will be shamed into not taking one for fear of not looking committed to the job. Your day will be consumed with making phone calls to set appointments in the morning and cold calling in person everyday. You will be required to use your own car, drive a large territory everyday, go door to door (40-50 doors a day, rain or shine) in search of shippers and then make more phone calls in the afternoon. Be prepared to literally get kicked out of most offices or turned away/yelled at by office managers in your quest to talk to a business owner who could care less about their $250 FedEx invoice or $500 freight invoice The managers and owners hire like crazy, get what they can out of a new hire for 6-12 months then either fire the rep for lack of performance or they quit on their own. The office keeps the weekly reoccurring revenue you bring in thereby growing no matter how long you stay, but pays you minimally during your employment. I am dead honest when I tell you all that the turnover rate for new hires is an astonishing 85% because most new reps burn out or despise the job within 6 months of being hired. If you think I am lying then ask yourself why managers will continue to interview candidates despite being at full headcount for the office (we knew you would eventually see the scam that was Worldwide Express) Each office is individually owned and operated so don't think for a minute that there is a great opportunity for growth. If you stick it out you might see a sales title promotion (account exec, account exec II..etc), you will not be promoted to a managerial level if there is a manager currently doing his/her job. You will be forced to enjoy cold calling for another year or quit due to lack of opportunity. You will be sold a huge bill of goods that this job has all the opportunity in the world for a young, hungry or eager professional but believe me, as someone who "sold the dream" to young applicants, that is just not the case. The total payout does not equal what you will have to put in. Steer clear of Worldwide Express and the franchise groups within it. Don't waste your time and young career on this place.

Pros

Good training program - really helps you learn how to sell. There is: Basic Sales training - which is pretty tough (you have to memorize the sales script and repeat it verbatim in front of the entire training class); Advanced Sales training - this is MUCH more relaxed and helps you learn better sales tactics; and ACE training - this is the best training and is the smallest class. You have to be invited to this training based on your performance, but it is extremely beneficial.

Cons

Overall, this job is really tough and both the pay and benefits do not match the amount of work you put into it. In my experience, I was ridiculously micro-manged because the boss always wanted to know where we were and what we were doing every moment of the day. I had to be at work at 8 am sharp and was not allowed to leave until we were finished recapping our day (every sales rep, the manager, and franchise owner) which typically did not end until 6 or 6:30 pm. Also, the base pay is $30,000 and they give you a car/cell phone allowance of $300. This "allowance" does not change based on the economy (gas prices rising) or your territory. Therefore, if you gas up 3 x's a week to cover your territory, you're paying for it out of pocket... so really that $30,000 is probably closer to $28,000. And once you finally start making commission, you only get 10% of the margin dollars of the sale. I've heard other franchises offer more.... but it really doesn't move the needle much regardless. And, yes you have to give out your personal cell phone number to customers. So, if your customer has a problem on a Saturday or Sunday morning.. or even at 9:00 at night when the customer service team is out.... they call YOU - with all their lovely complaints... so you really can end up working 24/7.. it's ridiculous. You also do not get vacation time for a year. Once you finally are allotted vacation you get 1 week....and they also make you feel extremely guilty if you ever need a sick day. My franchise only offered health insurance - no dental or vision.... so that's another thing you pay out of pocket for. All that, plus you work your ass off every. single. day.... Cold calling every single door to get leads and desperately hoping that you get to meet someone will will take an appointment with you so upper management doesn't chew you out. It's rough. You never work with existing customers for upsell opportunities- only new customers via cold calling. So that makes this position much more difficult than other sales jobs.
