Pros

Staff discount Uniform Some great colleagues/partners there

Cons

Very hard work for low wages, expected to do several jobs and then manager would ask why you hadn’t completed the one you were originally doing. Not treated very respectfully, never thanked for working on or extra even throughout Covid when it was really difficult, but a lot of petty rules implemented by ruthlessly ambitious bosses. Used to be a brilliant company to work for, but now no longer cares about staff and customer service, most of the decent managers have retired or left now. I believe two of the worst managers have been moved on to a nearby store now so hopefully things have improved. Some health and safety behind the scenes was very debatable surprising in this sort of company,

Pros

No benefits were worth the mental torture I went through

Cons

Worst job I've ever had. Insanely micro-managed, constantly asked about toilet breaks and told "you'd be our best picker if you didn't go to the toilet". One particular manager is huge piece of work and on a constant power trip. Called me uneducated and accused me of threatening to hit him (I have never raised a hand or threatened any violence in my entire life, to give you context). When I raised a grievance the company did nothing. In absolute agony after work, legitimately bed-ridden because of how physically taxing it was. Spent most days hood up, trying to hide the tears from coworkers. I was dosed up on antidepressants and needed therapy. I can't even go into depth with how horrible it was because in my previous experience, my review will get taken down. I just wish I could properly warn people, tell them how it really was without being silenced.

Pros

The few that work hard to support each other in the sink or swim environment.

Cons

Over worked Undervalued Even if you work extra every shift-(sometimes hrs) you will be pulled up for being five minutes late for one. No progression available due to business cuts and bad management Knowledge, skill, dedication, hard work, all over looked. Be prepared to be told how to wear your hair (has to be up unless above shoulders-or a manager) your make up (has to be natural) jewellery if allowed at all is not to be classed as “garish”, no hooped earrings. Only grow a beard to the right length on your holidays (don’t expect to see your family’s at Christmas or Easter, they’re blocked off and no time off is allowed) No nail anything- not even a clear coat to protect your nails from damage, expect a disciplinary if you break any of these rules more than once. (But you will get told how to always be your self) They’ll watch you on cctv. There is no “we not me” with management and partners. It’s them and us. A general office is general but they will gossip and go silent when you walk in and managers domineer the computers as their space. Don’t expect them to get hands on with any work- even if your drowning and their poor planning is to blame. You can try more and take on extra tasks, don’t expect a thank you or a pay increase for the extra responsibilities. The warehouse is filthy, cleaning area the worst, thick with grime.
