Pros

There is a good pay rate for people who are young - they get the same wages as everyone else excluding performance based pay. Waitrose have good links with discounts.

Cons

They say there is development in the role but there really isnt, I have been doing the same thing for a year and a half - stacking shelves, other people will do less work than you and just because they are outspoken will receive a higher pay rise. Pay rises are yearly and even then they will delay them in order to avoid paying you more - will they then reimburse you for the difference in how late the pay rise came? - no.

Pros

25% off in John Lewis 15% off at Waitrose Various cinema, dining and activity discounts

Cons

Poor pay for long term workers Minimal pay rise despite performance rating of good Anti social hours Stressful (often understaffed) No time off in december or january or holidays like easter Difficult to progress and even if you do managers pay is obsolete because of the living wage(theirs didn't increase at all)

Pros

Great people. Excellent benefits. Competitive salary - however the bonus, rather than being treated as such, is often used as a reason to keep the base wage low. Fantastic history. Skilled board of Directors. - let down severely by local and middle management.

Cons

Dishonest management. Knowingly violates food safety regulations. A "hide the issue rather than resolve it" culture. Knowingly breaks the law regarding commitments made on their website. Partners raising concerns will frequently have their jobs threatened. The business flagrantly contradicts or ignores commitments it makes to it's Partners. Throws money at ill conceived projects without proper research. Or, worse still, ignores available information and invests in projects which will clearly fail. Managers who feel it is acceptable to exploit and even physically assault sub contractors such as cleaners because they know that the sub contractors are unable to defend their rights. Very questionable hiring practices - known thieves placed in to senior management roles, friends of personnel managers put in to positions for which they have no qualifications etc.
