Pros

Good pay (for this type of work), annual bonus, really good discounts and benefits (£60 to spend on music or theatre tickets and £250 to spend on learning every year) suitable hours for students, like-minded colleagues.

Cons

Not enough variety, some very rude customers, favoritism of older employees, either understaffed or overstaffed. Despite the fact that you get paid holiday it is near to impossible to take at certain times. I left at the end of August because I couldn't take holiday despite booking it up to 2 months in advance, and I hadn't taken time off since the beginning of March

Pros

Very good company, flexibility and great people to work with. Always overtime and although the work might be intense, it is sort of fun! Great social side of things too with partnership and branch events happening all the time and to top it all of, the benefits are amazing (annual bonus, subsided canteen food, subsidies sporting event tickets and various discounts at restaurants).

Cons

Some shifts can be boring if your work mates are not working the same time as you. Wages could be higher.

Pros

-Genuinely a really nice atmosphere to work in. -Tend to get a good variety of team members, which makes for a good and friendly working environment. -Great for getting overtime, I never struggle to find overtime hours if I need them. -Always seem to be happy to cross-train you in other areas of the store. Good if you want to develop skills in more than one area and makes things a bit more interesting. -Obviously the Partner discount card for Waitrose and John Lewis, the annual bonus, time and a half on Sunday's and Bank Holiday's. Numerous other benefits and discounts you can get- there's a whole handbook of them!

Cons

-Extremely under-staffed. Are very cautious about hiring new staff to replace people who have left. Puts everyone under a lot of pressure, and can often effect the performance of the store and customer satisfaction which is not good. -From my personal experience, managers can be hard to communicate/ get in touch with. -Can be hard to get time off unless booked quite far in advance.
