Pros

-annual bonus -15% discount in Waitrose, and 12%-25% discount in John Lewis

Cons

- Appalling uniform which consists a meaningless apron, wearing which you will look like a clown. - Management have no respect for subordinates. - Management totally disregard years of attained skills and experience of partners. They only promote those to a higher position who have enough connections (friends and family) with the top management within the branch. Nepotism that goes within is disgusting. - minorities (migrants/ people of other ethnic background) are neglected by the managers. Management do not promote people of other ethnicities above the level of a supermarket assistant. - It does not matter how much effort you put in your work. You managers will never be satisfied. If you make minor mistakes they will be extremely hard on you. If you do a good job, they don't know how to appreciate. - Annual bonus is going down every year. Once upon a time, the partnership bonus was about 20% of yearly income of partners. Over the last 6/7 years it has now come down to 10%. Next year (2016) it would possibly be 8%, and the following year (2017) it will be 6% etc. What a joke! In the name of reinvestment, they are practically deceiving the partners. This affects the life of the partners who are on low pay rates. High paying managers won't bother about this. - unless you are friend/family of an assistant section manager or a higher designated partner, they do not increase your contracted hours. They expect you to do many overtimes, but on holidays you only get paid for the hours you are contracted for. So if you consistently do overtimes throughout the year, you do not get any advantage for your hard work when you are on holiday.
