Pros

Great chances for career progressions. Really brilliant team work from the top to the bottom and everyone really pulls their weight. Salary scale is brilliant and really easy to get a large wage rise if you work hard. I got £3000 jump one year and a £4500 bonus on top.

Cons

It can get really short staffed sometimes and overtime is very limited so you will be stretched as a manager.

Pros

The pay is great for a part-time, also a big bonus each year plus a good discount (and for John Lewis too!). I received time and a half for working sundays which was a good help while studying. There are a lot of meetings and personal development which is great if you wish to stay with the company as a career. Also during my time working here I saw many colleagues progress to some kind of management or team leader roll.

Cons

Can be stressful, high expectations of staff. Also Men are not allowed to have any facial hair unless they started their employment with a beard etc (This may have changed since). Also, can be quite strict at times.

Pros

Good hourly rates, regular pay reviews, paid lunch hour, bonus, good team ethic. In general, the weekend staff in particular were great, Some of the weekday older staff seemed cynical and critical; this did not make a pleasant working environment.

Cons

Regular management changes meant relationships built with managers were often not long lasting and you could work hard for one only to be disliked by another. This happened to me, according to a colleague who saw some personnel files I was on consideration for management training but was blocked by a new manager who came in and took a dislike to me for little apparent reason other than I was a Southampton fan and he was a Portsmouth fan. Relative inflexibilty for shift swops and holiday. To be having to plan every day off 6 months in advance for what was a temp job was not ideal.
