Pros

Amazing team, fantastic campus, great benefits, and a very interesting job, if you actually know what the job really is, that is

Cons

A rigidly hierarchical society marked by a stark divide: a remarkable class of skilled individuals who drive the work forward and a conventional cadre of corporate executives who focus on rhetoric while claiming and distributing the lion’s share of the rewards. The landscape is riddled with redundancies and fragmented implementations of identical technologies across disparate business units, reflecting a lack of cohesion. With no clear strategic vision or direction, the overall experience is disheartening at best.

Pros

Work-Life Balance: Walgreens Boots Alliance offers commendable work-life balance, which is a critical factor in maintaining employee well-being and job satisfaction. This balance is primarily facilitated by the company's policy of unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO). Such policies allow employees greater flexibility in managing their personal and professional lives, reducing stress and burnout. Unlimited PTO: The unlimited PTO policy is particularly noteworthy. This progressive approach allows employees to take time off as needed, without the constraints of a fixed number of leave days. It empowers employees to make decisions about their time off, promoting a trust-based culture and acknowledging the diverse needs of individuals.

Cons

Disorganization at Multiple Levels: There's a notable lack of structure and organization within the company. This disorganization spans various departments and levels, hindering efficient workflow and clarity in role responsibilities. Immigration Support: The company's approach to immigration support is lacking. Critical issues such as delayed start dates have had adverse effects, particularly for those requiring H1B visa applications. This not only impacts current international employees but also limits the company's ability to attract diverse global talent. Inadequate Compensation: The salary offered for machine learning roles is significantly lower than industry standards. Considering the specialized skill set required for these positions, the compensation does not reflect the market value of these roles, which is a major deterrent. Lack of Role Differentiation: Regardless of whether employees are engaged in machine learning, software engineering, or data engineering, everyone is broadly classified under the title of 'Data Scientist'. This lack of role differentiation can lead to ambiguity in career progression and skill recognition. Ineffective Employee Incentives: The company does not adequately incentivize high performance. Employees who excel in their roles do not receive commensurate recognition or rewards, which can lead to a lack of motivation and decreased job satisfaction. Leadership Quality: The leadership at Walgreens Boots Alliance is perceived as naïve and disorganized. Effective leadership is crucial for guiding a company and its employees towards success, and the current leadership style may not be conducive to fostering a productive and positive work environment. Subpar Hiring Practices: Compared to other companies, the hiring standards and practices at Walgreens Boots Alliance are not up to par. This impacts the overall quality of new hires and can affect the company’s performance and reputation in the long run.

Pros

Excellent PTO Great health benefits Supportive managers

Cons

Most recent CEO was fired and was given a 9 million dollar severance in addition to a monthly pay for the next six months, while the remaining team members were told there was not room in the budget for raises during a looming recession. In addition, we are now forced to go into the office 3 days a week.
