Pros

Even after leaving 2 years ago it's hard for me to remember any pros.

Cons

The biggest downside of working at Walgreens was the management. Employees never felt appreciated no matter how hard we worked. Training was minimal other than the basics.

Pros

I'm having a hard time thinking of Pros at this point. I was going to say that since it is an enterprise that there is some job security but I have recently seen a bunch of layoffs that would indicate that there is currently very little job security. The only pro I can think of is that there are good people there that I have worked with but most are in the process of leaving.

Cons

Employee benefits are being reduced dramatically. We have lost quite a bit since the current CEO Stephano Passina has come on board and merged the company with Alliance Bootes. The pay raises are minuscule, and the cost cutting is getting ridiculous. I'm in IT and most of our jobs and the experience we could gain from them have been off shored to India and Mexico. The 25% discount at the store is a joke as most items can be bought from Walmart at a lower price without a discount than can be bought at Walgreens with the 25% discount. Quite a few people have left and the company seems to be a revolving door now as there has been a reduction in vacation time for long term employees (over 15 years). Christmas bonuses are gone (they weren't much to begin with but it was nice to have them). Staff hours are being reduced dramatically and any help that we did get from corporate is gone as IT staffing has been reduced with a layoff and replaced with foreign "help". That foreign "help" is very difficult to understand due to language barriers such as accents and just plain bad English making getting your job done extremely frustrating and time consuming.
