Pros

Competitive salaries are a plus for manages.

Cons

Corporate policy of understaffng pharmacies while demanding customer satisfaction. It's impossible to provide great customer service when the customer is yelling at you because you do not have enough help to complete their prescription on time. Pay schedule does not keep us from losing Pharmacy Technicians to hospitals,

Pros

Hours were flexible, but that depends on the manager. I made some great friends and I enjoyed working with most of my coworkers. Interacting with customers could lead to great conversations, but be aware that some customers will take out a bad day on you. I received good training, and it didn't take long to get comfortable there.

Cons

You are paid a low wage, and after working there for a year you only receive a $0.20/hr raise. My store manager withheld my raise from me for four months. Managers played favorites when it came to assigning tasks and giving promotions. When customers were exceptionally rude to employees, management would break company policy to appease them, making the employees look bad for trying to uphold company policy. Management rarely came to the aid of a cashier who needed their assistance, and when they did they took a very long time. This caused the line to back up, customers to get exceedingly angry, and sometimes customers would simply leave. Some managers obsessively micromanaged employees. Each manager is responsible for a different department, but only some managers held their departments accountable for cleanliness and expirations. They would pull me out of my department to fix another department, and then scold me for not having finished the tasks in my department. Management gave more hours to people that they favored. They cut hours in half without any notice, and never gave any indication of when they would give more hours. Sometimes I would go a few months with only 20 hours or less when I had previously been working 35-40 hours. Because of this I was never given any benefits.

Pros

Profitable company, well recognized by others, spends big money on projects, expanding international with potential growth opportunities. New exec leadership coming that is changing the status quo.

Cons

Employees at all levels, including Senior VP's, are treated poorly. It may not feel this way in the field, but disrespect of employees is from the top down. There was a senior leadership meeting where the one of the board members told the the Top 200 execs that they are not needed and will be replaced if they don't comply with mandates to cut expenses. Where to cut? Not the globetrotting private airplanes, not the leases of empty buildings, not the fleet of leased vehicles sitting in parking lots, not the multimillion dollar projects with huge maintenance expenses...they cut the people, salary increases, and benefits... Open positions frozen, critical system staff is not backfilled, contractors are being cut, lay-offs, etc. Stores are under staffed, corporate IT is being decimated, and long-time loyal employees are leaving daily. Even former C-Level execs with multimillion dollar severance packages are suing the Company for defamation. Walgreens is a highly political cutthroat organization that changes direction daily. The Company is in desperate need for new leadership.
