Pros

I started at the low level of Walmart and grew as I got older and even further out of college. College was not the reason why moved out nor did it help me. I was an Assistant only for the last year of my 8 years with them. Even with the 7 years of knowledge I had with Walmart (and 3 coming from actually working at Corporate Office), nothing could prepare me for what was to come. I was first told I would be put on the Overnight Shift (never went through a training either for being an Assistant) and that it would only last 6 months. It ended up lasting a year before getting transferred and told I would have to do another year. Good things: -Good starting pay without experience or training -Potential to move up and around (but you must be willing to relocate) -When the sales/profit are up, huge cash bonuses.

Cons

Downsides: (each store is different) -Overnights could be the death of your career if you get stuck on it. -Not enough help and always pressuring you to do more with less every day -Frequently changes and hard to keep up to date with who wants what. Market vs Corporate always a factor.

Pros

decent pay, decent benefits, well-managed, co-workers are nice and easy to get along with, hiring even in these tough economic times

Cons

could be paid more, especially for the amount of work put into the job, could receive more benefits, more flexible hours

Pros

sales/discounts generally good pay co-workers are tolerable and bearable. a fairly easy job, basically just need to know how to count money.

Cons

the customers are quite horrid on somedays. esp during the holidays they seem to be extra impatient, and than they channel their anger towards you. not fun. requesting off is sometimes hard.
