Pros

Being a department manager has many pros. I work a set 7am to 4 pm schedule and have every weekend and holidays off. This is not the case if you are a sales associate. I receive 3 weeks paid vacation.

Cons

The only huge con that i have found with walmart is the glass ceiling. I have been with the company for 7 years. I promoted rather fast from a cart pusher to a sales associate and now to a department manager where i have been for about 3 years. I have been trying to get into the management training program with no luck. I meet all the standards set forth by walmart and I also have a BSBA from a major university.
