Pros

I was able to meet great new people and establish a good working relationship with most of my co workers. The pay was good but the co-workers made it worth staying.

Cons

Since they paid you decent they felt they could treat you any kind of way. Upper management was horrible and did not care about the employees. Most of the time they made excuses for why certain things couldnt get done instead of finding solutions.

Pros

-Comp and benefits are middle of the road -At least they protect 1/2 hour lunch.

Cons

It is retail pharmacy at its worst. Scheduling usually includes 12 hour days at some point in the work week. As a pharmacists, the other national chains give some level of respect to the pharmacist and the fact that are products are substances that are regulated by laws and can really affect people's health. Yet, because of the Walmart mentality with $4 generics, and the customer base that shops there, they prove to be the worst of the worst for attitudes and the ability to want your professional help. Management has a formula for staffing based only on prescription volume but wants every new script to be counseled by a registered pharmacist. Many stores don't adhere to this on a local level day-to-day practice but if you find yourself in a store that does your life is completely miserable. Typical day involves working in a state of sheer panic at absolute full throttle with no time to take a breath because the overlap with another pharmacist is never adequate based on the corporate formula for staffing. Some of the only remaining virtues of working for Walmart Pharmacy was the perks of being off on major holidays and on Sundays. But guess what, that just changed in 2010. Therefore, I am glad I transitioned to another avenue of pharmacy when I did!

Pros

wal mart is a multi-billion dollar company, and there are numerous opportunities to travel, move up and to different parts of the company, with a wide salary range.

Cons

The company is very fraternal and it is difficult to move up quickly; you must have a track record before you're entrusted with greater responsibility.
