Pros

health and retirement benefits are excellent. work environment is clean and attention is paid to ergonomics. family-related issues (bereavement, childbirth, etc.) are treated with respect and support.

Cons

disney management in its information technology areas are reluctant to promote non-white individuals. when asked for coaching on how to improve or gain promotion into upper management positions, promotion based on merit and skills takes a back-door to traditional good-ol-boy networks. what are characterized as "fair and impartial" employment selection processes are in fact orchestrated to promote those who have gained favor with existing management. management often is not willing to consider other candidates within the company who have equal pedigrees. when faced with seemingly two qualified candidates, one white and one minority, inevitably the minority is not chosen. sad.

Pros

The employees are, in general, the most competent I have ever worked with. It is easy to forget this, but stints at other companies have reinforced it. Everyone (mostly) loves the company. So telling people where you work usually results in nice comments or conversation. While perks and benefits are decent (not great), if you make to retirement Disney is one of the few companies that still have a defined benefit pension plan.

Cons

Hardly any room for promotion or advancements. It is pretty common for people to leave the company and return a year or two later to a much higher position. Leadership can be passive-aggressive. It is pretty common for no one to be in charge of something or have the ability to make decisions. Things tend to be decided by consensus and inertia too much.

Pros

The benefits are great especially if you have young children.

Cons

Disney is known for not paying well. Some say, and I would agree to a point, that the benefits provided make up for the salary difference.
