When I told the HR Director after my 3-4 months of working for the company what was happening and what I was dealing with at my venue in the Houston region, she cried on our Zoom call…Then a short time later she quit!! One guarantee at Walters is that you will be overworked and severely underpaid no matter your position. They thrive on cutting corners in every aspect but especially the corners of their employees’ paychecks. Walters refuses to hire an appropriate amount of staff to support the volume of their events. Walters expects their GMs to take on 95% of the workload at their venues in order to save cost for additional, hourly employees. Every bit of hard work goes unrecognized and unappreciated by upper management. Despite me working 60-70 hours every week and successfully running two of the busiest venues in the company, I was told my salary maxed out at $49k with no promising potential for growth. The only thing Walters prioritizes more than exploiting their overworked salaried employees is acquiring more venues per region. They claim this “creates opportunities” but what it does is suck resources from the other venues that are already suffering within the region - which for Houston is every single venue. Every few months Corporate sends their leads to survey your region and surprise! Your region has acquired another run down, tired venue that needs immediate dire attention from everyone, pushing your own venues needs that were never addressed or fixed further down the list of priorities. Corporate disappears back to Dallas after the deal is done and acts completely clueless as to why the entire region is failing but doesn’t provide resources/approvals to solve existing issues. Walters does not care about the quality of the events they only care about the quantity of contracts they lock clients into. They certainly do not care about their employees. The entire vibe is fake. Save your peace.
