Pros

Working with students is a joy, if that is what you're seeking. The benefits are pretty good as well, but could definitely be better.

Cons

It's a "ol' boys club" at WSU. The managers who have worked there have often worked there for their entire professional careers. This leads to managers who have no idea how to manage and have no perspective on how other organizations are managed. It seems to be this way all the way up the chain of command as several high-profile employees get promoted into new positions and then retire soon afterwards due to the toxic work environment fostered by their new manager.

Pros

401k match and job stability

Cons

No salary schedule and inequitable/inconsistent advancement. Minimal COLAs that in no way keep up with COL increases, resulting in a net loss over time. Large pay increases for senior management, poor pay for faculty and other staff. Health insurance that denies coverage for a variety of healthcare costs.
