Pros

Lots of opportunity for education when you first start. The ability to make lateral moves is nice.

Cons

Waters doesn't pay as competitively as similar companies or offer yearly bonuses but they used to make up for it by treating their employees well. Waters had a wonderful company culture that has suffered in the last 5 years under poor leadership. There were big missteps during Covid. They cut everyone's pay and put some employees on furlough anticipating a bad year but when they had a very normal year they didn't return any of the money. Instead we got to listen to them boast about the profits after taking money out of our pockets. Another major problem Waters has is leaving in poor middle managers. I have seen managers single handedly drive away a large group of employees in multiple departments and nothing is done about it. The attrition problems at Waters have gotten so bad in the last 5 years that it has chipped away at the in house knowledge severely. Lateral moves within the company become necessary because there are a lot of dead end career paths where your only opportunity for advancement is going into management.

Pros

Dedicated employee base that stayed productive in spite of inept leadership

Cons

No career development or opportunities, 90’s era corporate vibes, minimal benefits, tone deaf CEO and cronies, terrible location, nowhere to turn for support as management and HR are in cahoots.

Pros

I've had the pleasure of meeting many great people during my time with the company.

Cons

When I first joined Waters, I was genuinely excited about the company, but the past few years have been challenging. There's little opportunity for professional growth, as management doesn't prioritize employee development or training. The lack of a clear career path is particularly evident for women in Operations. Out of all the Directors in Global Operations, only four are women, with just one based in the U.S. While the company frequently discusses diversity, equity, and inclusion, these values aren’t reflected in meaningful actions. Raising concerns with HR often leads to being dismissed rather than heard. Additionally, the benefits are merely average, and this year, we didn’t receive raises or bonuses.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Here are a few suggestions that may help. Hopefully, you saw the revamped career resources announced at our latest town hall. You can find them under "My Development" on Inside Waters. This is a great starting point. I am also not sure what part of Global Operations you are in, but Waters belongs to a great organization called Women in Manufacturing. Leveraging networks and our Women at Waters employee resource group may be helpful. You can find out more about both on Inside Waters.
