Pros

They seem pretty stoked they have a snack wall. Dont be fooled its not a good place to grow your career.

Cons

Quiet layoffs for months in all departments. Csuite sits in town halls pretending they dont know saying “its up to the leaders in their orgs how they manage things we cant speak to it. ” So, thats concerning. If Csuite doesnt know its orgs are laying off thats incompetence. If they know, theyre lying. Either way deeply incompetent and distrustful leadership. Voice survey's are in the negatives for leadership satisfaction. The newest layoffs are letting people go 12/29 three days before they are supposed to vest quarterly stock, they wont now and they deserve it and 4 days after the holiday with minimal severance averaging 3-4 weeks. Merry Christmas from Wayfair. They have changed a lot as it relates to your ability to grow, get promoted and increase your compensation. Roles are capped but you will not be told that in the interview. So , you could be leaving a job for a position you can never move up in. Promotion philosophy: two things must happen. There has to be scope at the next level AND you have to be performing at the next level for 6-9 months. So, if you have no idea when scope will open yet you need to perform at the next level to advance you could be indefinitely doing the work a level above without getting paid for it. I spent over a year doing the job at the next level to then be told im in a capped role. Its a scam under the guise of “being more thoughtful about promotions” Organizationally disorganized from an unhinged CEO. Want a taste of how he calls his employees lazy and they need to work late google the memo that got leaked. The culture is all about who you know and who you kiss up to so the senior leaders,Director+ have the same cut throat mentality. There is zero work life balance. No legitimate training program to help people grow. You have folks who have never performed in a role before either the technical profession or management being moved around because they “bleed purple.” Once you get to director level they start moving people all over the place who dont have the industry experience. For example, new head of total rewards: zero total rewards, benefits, global mobility or comp experience, he now runs all those functions. New head of talent.. no HR experience. This is a CHRO role everywhere else and you move a management consultant with operational experience but no background in HR running HR. This happens across the company in all functions. Below market pay and they will drop your compensation. If you have an above expectations rating one cycle but get meets expectations next cycle( so doing your job) your total comp is dropped. Its meant to perpetually keep you over performing and burning out They just instituted budgets two years ago. So, its chaos. Heavy outsourcing happening to India and China Forced RTO and no opportunity to advance if remote. If youre still here and remote start looking you will be pushed out soon.

Pros

My peers who I have worked with and have met are what have kept me here the longest.

Cons

This is not the same Wayfair we all loved and trusted. Bad business decisions have been made and continue to be made. Lack of trust in Senior Leadership. They will use you and then move you out. There is always "an issue or dumpster fire" that is being worked on. Nothing ever really gets solved with all the L4 plus on vacation all the time.

Pros

Working from home, decent PTO when you can use it, some great co-workers

Cons

Very contradictory- they want you to be your authentic self, but that’s only and only if your authentic self lies within the “Wayfarian” mold. A lot of people being fake to stand out and be a favorite and oh boy, does leadership play favorites. They want you to take ownership, meanwhile they are constantly treating you like children and saying what you can’t do. Relentless Customer Focus is supposedly so important, but tools and permissions are taken away making positive customer experiences more and more difficult to deliver. They give you generous PTO time, but then often you can’t get the day you want or need off. Their attendance policy is awful despite their claim to work life balance. Wayfair used to be a great place to work, but now it’s very too top heavy and any perks we once had are gone. Leadership will play a good game trying to make employees think they care but it’s all an act, they are out for themselves and playing the game. It’s a shame and all the changes has really decreased employee moral which shows in their turnover rates.
