Pros

The discount was the only real thing that I miss from working here

Cons

I am writing to share my disappointing experience as an employee at Wayfair. My time with the company has been marked by a lack of consideration for employees as individuals, and a concerning disregard for job security and confidentiality. At Wayfair, employees are often treated more like numbers than individuals. Despite receiving positive employment reviews, I found that the company did not hesitate to terminate employees without a second thought, even when their performance had been consistently praised. This practice creates an environment of uncertainty and anxiety among the workforce. Moreover, the Human Resources department at Wayfair has proven to be nonsupportive. When attempting to address concerns and lodge complaints, I discovered that the confidentiality of such matters is not upheld. Personal information is shared indiscriminately with employees who are not involved in the situation, eroding trust and discouraging employees from seeking help. This lack of empathy and privacy compromises the overall well-being of the workforce and contributes to a toxic work culture. I believe that an organization's success is built on the foundation of a supportive and respectful workplace, and unfortunately, Wayfair falls short in this regard. I hope this feedback serves as an opportunity for Wayfair to reflect on its employee relations practices and strive for improvements in fostering a more compassionate and confidential work environment.

Woke as a Joke

Pros

Good benefits and ample time off.

Cons

They will do everything they can to eliminate your bonus. There's no job security, you're just a number and it's a given that every pay day Friday employees will be laid off. Their DEI department will be sure to let you know of their support of a variety of Woke Issues and give ypu a Queer Book suggestion or their stance on various key, headline news decisions and what they were going to do about it, but when it came to the Hamas Attack on Israel...Crickets. Not a peep.

RUN! Wayfair Is On Fire

Pros

- Made good money when the stock was high - Has conditioned me to deal with insane stress levels - Discount on furniture

Cons

This is the worst product experience I have had in my career. PMs run experimentation, reporting, analysis, tracking, QA, performance monitoring, all of it. End to end. I am talking everything but writing the code. There is no time to actually PM. All of this might be ok if we had great tools, but we don’t. We have awful, half-baked, internal, often legacy, and poorly maintained tools/platforms. Leadership don’t enable the product process. PMs try to do discovery but the final call is always HIPPO and never backed by research or data. So we build and build but rarely provide new value to customers. Every day I wake up to a few more coworkers quitting. Engineers are so unmotivated they barely come to stand-up and constantly call out (to interview). The company is becoming nothing but Walmart and Amazon robots with no experience executing who try to replicate what they did for a company with nowhere near the selection, customer base, or TAM. Internal replatforming efforts are constantly promising to take us to the future but all they do is suck up resource, build things that are poorly maintained, and once launched lag years behind modern tech. Pay is mediocre, they say they’ll adjust stock comp when it is low but they take quarters to do this only to adjust nowhere near the current lows. Talented senior people get stuck in their roles without clear paths to promotion. Annual raises are 2 or 3% despite insane cost of living increases in every city we have offices. Just run, no matter how desperate you are. You can do better.
