Lay off the koolaid

Pros

Work-life balance was good, a lot of snacks, great office location, the office is nice.

Cons

People have terrible and unjustified egos, everyone's had too much of their own kool aid and think they're amazing engineers on par with Google etc. when in reality the company is full of sub-par engineers (which is apparent by how little they pay their engineers). They claim to be a meritocracy but questioning the status-quo is never respected and works more like a high school clique.

Pros

Interesting work, great base pay and equity package, nice culture. Fast pace. No time for boredom. Not sure why people are complaining about compensation... They pay based on skill level and what you make already. I am paid well above market rate.

Cons

Commute. Company needs structure before it grows too big. No process around anything. Some tenured employees deserve significant pay hike to bring them to market value. Too much partying at times.

Pros

-Friendly, nurturing culture -Fun environment for 20/30-somethings -People who perform well often get promoted

Cons

-Messy, buggy codebase -Company stingy about investing in new technology/equipment -Culture of getting things done quickly even if they are partially broken -Becoming increasingly corporate, with BS meetings and superficial productivity metrics that encourage quantity over quality -Pay below market average -Work-life balance not always great for engineers, depending on team. Sometimes engineers have to work late into the night or be on-call during weekends -Supposedly transparency is a core value of the company, but many important decisions are made behind closed doors -Employees and managers vary greatly with respect to engineering ability and communication skills -Not an exciting company to work for in terms of its mission (selling furniture, and beating out local Mom & Pop furniture stores)
