Pros

Great teammates, direct supervisors are supportive and really care about your career growth.

Cons

Upper leadership makes terrible decisions that led to the stock plummeting 80% in a single year. They never adjusted their Restricted Stock Units to account for the drop in value, so you just get a weaker total comp with nothing to show for it. Wayfair aggressively pushed both vaccine mandates and mandatory return to office, angering both sides and leading to one third of the tech team quitting in 2021. They can’t hire fast enough to make up for the people quitting, and Wayfair doesn’t seem to value employee retention or else they would have adjusted their salary bands years ago. Most employees leave within 2 years, mainly devs getting poached by Amazon. Wayfair focuses too much on pointless projects like opening a retail store in a mall (in 2022, really?) and expanding to minor European markets instead of improving their core business. Wayfair keeps a pulse on employees through quarterly surveys and Q&A sessions with leadership, but nothing actionable ever comes out of that employee feedback. Internally, employees jump over each other to argue about how much they dislike Wayfair and to complain about politics on Slack, it creates a pretty hostile internal atmosphere in the company, and it seems that employees are more interested in complaining about renaming Brown Bag lunches for being “racist” than they are doing actual work. Leadership mandated return to office and for many months people outright refused to go back in, there’s a clear fight between the devs and leadership at Wayfair. Poorly run company, business is heading south, and employee churn is constant. Would not recommend!
