Pros

Easy-to-use system that basically does your job for you, good core values, free coffee and snack wall

Cons

Wrongful termination, improper sales taxing, providing furniture for migration camps for the government, terrible HR, Constant irregularity in stocks, weak management, weak bonus structure, false promises. Give a damn about your people and actually stand up for what you believe in and fight for them. After working for them 2 years prior, and leaving due to an uncomfortable situation between my manager and I, I decided to give them another go. Lasted 3 months, and I was wrongfully terminated because I had my cellphone out on my desk. Wayfair supposedly has an open cell-phone policy as noted in their employment agreement, guess it's not so open. I was told twice to put my cellphone in my desk when I wasn't even on it. Next thing I know, I get pulled into a room and terminated. No verbal, written, final warning. No explanation, no paperwork, besides a termination sheet. The HR woman that fired me, yelled at me and swore at me the whole time she was walking me out. Um...professional much? A week later, the manager that pulled the plug and decided when to go to HR and fire me, also got fired. A month after that, a friend of mine was terminated for being 10.3 seconds late signing in after a recorded computer issue(no verbal or written warning prior). 2 months following, another friend quit in fear of being fired. She got put on a final (again, with no verbal or written warning prior) for being .1% under one of her metrics.

Pros

The one thing no one can deny Wayfair is that they have a nice office in a great location. It's huge and you can sometimes get stuck waiting in line to get to work but the office is great. While the Talent Acquisition function at Wayfair is large, the teams they support are actually what make the role interesting. The recruiting team itself is not doing anything all that exciting or innovating. On the business side, there are a lot of really intelligent people that work on some interesting things.

Cons

Due to Wayfair's hiring needs, teams are vertically focused so there is no diversity to the work that you are doing. The teams are basically just working off a hiring queue and fill different roles with the exact same type of candidate (probably a consultant). The teams have extremely high standards but Wayfair is not willing to pay for the type of talent that they want. Not only are Wayfair's salaries low, they offer extremely low raises as well. No one can get a raise larger than 10% when switching roles internally (even if that means you make less than someone else in the same job). Several people were given raises of less than 3% last year which does not even cover the cost of living adjustment from year to year in Boston. Lastly, there is a lot of turnover. Expect to have several managers during your time there.

Pros

Everyone is nice and great to work with. Adtech and logistics teams are world-class, everyone else is below tier. Work life balance is great. Its a 9:30-5:00 culture. Company is growing very quickly. Matt Zisow and store front directors are smart, but everyone else is at or below average. Everyone is great at sharing knowledge and being inclusive.

Cons

Wayfair is a marketing first, engineering second, product third company. Marketing is great. The engineers are pretty bad. 1/20 are above average. 5/10 average, and the rest are meh. The core values are mostly BS. 'We hire smart people' , but you are then expected to do things how Wayfair does, with their low tier tech, absolutely awful ticketing systems, trash analytics platform and pretty much 'this was decent 10 years ago' everything else. 'We want people to give candid feedback' but this often turns into a 10 minute conversation of drastically different perspectives that results in no change for the better. Product is very political. You have to fit into the Wayfair box very well. It is not the type of place where high performers can come in and drive results or expect promotion if you do. Anything past a Product Manager is purely focused on your perceived ability to manage people(not delivering product results). Pay is below FANG. After 1.5 years, I have learned no best practice I would take anywhere else. Everything below VP and above L3(PM) are pretty average and don't provide product value. Wayfair doesn't hire subject matter experts.
