Pros

Free Coffee & College Like Parties if your into that.

Cons

Toxic Work Environment, you can tell the employees keep their heads down, if you speak up you are gone. Unethical practices, they say to make sure to stress to clients that they don’t outsource outside of US, this didn’t seem to be the case. High turnover rate. I saw another review said Toxic Positivity and that’s the perfect way to describe it. What is sad is that any genuine reviews posted about the bad work environment are hidden, you post a bad review and magically 5 new 5 star reviews pop up to push your review down. Hmm very interesting, wonder if it had something to do with them being a digital marketing firm…my experience here has caused serious trauma and I recommend staying away.

Pros

I worked as a remote longform copywriter for WebFX for eight months, and I would recommend it to anyone searching for an encouraging and growth-motivated workplace. Before working for WebFX, I had never written Internet copy. Everyone on the team was supportive, patient and always willing to provide helpful feedback. WebFX has an extensive ongoing education and training program that is helpful to both new and experienced copywriters — because the world of Internet marketing is constantly evolving, there are always new ways to grow and improve, and WebFX provides detailed resources for their writers to help them stay ahead of the latest developments in copywriting and SEO.

Cons

If you are considering a remote position at WebFX, make sure that you will enjoy remote work — while some people thrive off of a remote schedule, it might not be the best fit for people who prefer to work in a close-knit team environment. That being said, WebFX goes out of their way to troubleshoot any issues with their writers, ranging from feelings of burnout to figuring out the best work setup for your needs and your space. My supervisor was kind, thoughtful and professional, and was always available if I had any questions or concerns about my assignments.

Pros

I appreciate that they support various charities. I also appreciated the Little Amps barista, my weekly free latte was my only glimmer of true happiness.

Cons

This was my first job out of college (spoiler alert: they only hire people with little to no prior experience), and it gave me so much work related anxiety that has taken years to sort through. During my time at WebFX, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness. Despite having consistently positive performance reviews, I was pulled into a meeting with my manager to discuss "how WebFX could support my illness." I was then told that if my illness affected me during my work day I would no longer be eligible for a promotion. I was told that multiple coworkers told my manager I "looked sick at work," and was asked if I could appear to be healthier while in the office. They then proceeded to reveal to me that another coworker was dealing with an illness (that I was not even aware of), and I was told that the two of us were not allowed to ask each other how we were feeling during the work day. They told me that if my sickness affected me at work I should simply stop doing other activities outside of work hours because they knew that I was "very involved with my family and my church, but work should be my top priority." They are opposed to ANYTHING that isn't dripping with positivity. Having a rough day? You better already have a 10-step plan to be the happiest person in the world by EOD. Do you see room for a process improvement? Prepare to be pulled into multiple hour long meetings so that they can explain to you how you're wrong and why you should never question them again. Despite what they say, they do not care about your personhood. They praise the almighty "FX Family" but as soon as you are faced with family tragedy or illness they could not care less. You are just a number to them. It's clear through their monthly sprints, unpaid breaks and lunches, and productivity trackers that take screenshots of your screen every five minutes. If you are someone who has yet to face a life altering event, or if you're willing to be overworked and silenced then you might find success here. If you're someone who has a strong voice and confidence you will likely be pushed out without a second thought to your wellbeing. I chose to quit WebFX but in my time there I saw countless people fired over absolutely nothing. Get out while you still can, and find somewhere that will value you and your life outside of work.
