There's many things wrong with the Weis pharmacy, and I think anyone who works there or at the store in general should be aware of them before they apply, so here's a list:
- The pharmacy management and managers are corrupt. They got caught stealing wages from employees. You would work X number of hours and they would go back into the log and change it so that you got paid for fewer hours. They resist giving raises as much as possible.
- On top of that, they pay you almost nothing. This is a high volume pharmacy and pharmacy technicians have huge responsibilities (the pharmacy literally depends on the technician being there) and yet they will pay you slave wages. You get minimum wage for all that work, impossible to make a living.
- They don't want to make you full-time. You go 1 second over overtime and they come onto you like rabid dogs. They don't want to give you benefits or a raise. They also want give you as many hours as possible before they have to give you benefits or more money. The manager will purposefully rate your performance down so that you can't get a raise and have a harder time finding a different pharmacy. You're a slave.
- If you're a pharmacist, you aren't afforded any breaks, let alone time to eat anything from 9 AM to 9 PM. The company has recently tried to change into more like CVS and it's a terrible change, so many of their best pharmacists have been quitting. The company doesn't care and has no loyalty to its employees. There's no room for job advancement or moving up the ladder unless you're a manager's "favorite." I watched a manager give a job to her friend at another pharmacy and replaced the pharmacist that had worked there for 10+ years and didn't want to move.
- Again, because of all the changes in management and they way they are trying to run the pharmacy, MANY of their best employees have been leaving. As a result, the pharmacy performance drops and patients leave. People who once gave this pharmacy 5 stars now swear they'll never return again because the management is so terrible. Patients aren't stupid. They know when the company cares more about money than their wellbeing, and that's the direction Weis is headed. They want you to market more than help patients.
- Pharmacy management refuse to upgrade the pharmacy. It depends so heavily on technology that this is unacceptable. Most of their equipment is incredibly outdated and there are issues with it almost daily.
- Weis pharmacy might be a sinking ship if they can't get it together. It's really a shame, there are so many great people working here. But when a company puts greed ahead of everything else, no one will want to work there and eventually no one will want to shop there.
