Pros

The management and other employees within each individual branch are one positive reason to work at WesBanco. Most of the branches are comprised of individuals who work well together. Management within the individual branches are usually understanding of personal needs and family needs.

Cons

One of the cons about working at WesBanco is the treatment of the employees by senior management. Though senior management often does not recognize the outstanding job that many of its' employees are doing, management within the branches usually compensate for this. Employees used to be able to say that they were proud to work for the company. This is a company that many would have said is family oriented and secure. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case, as WesBanco has begun eliminating employee positions. Many of the people and positions that were eliminated were top performers and it was said that the decisons were not based on performance. The callousness with which WesBanco treats its' employees is disheartening. Pulling 40+ employees into a room and telling them that half of them will lose their jobs is not a compassionate way to treat those who have worked hard to make their branches and their company successful. This is no longer a place that one can feel comfortable working. WesBanco has lost its' sense of security and has also lost the most valuable things, loyalty and dedication from its' staff.

Pros

WesBanco treats its employees well in terms of job security and pays competiviely if you work in a metro area. This company would be very reluctant to make layoffs and is not proactive when it comes to cutting jobs. Because of the small size of the company employees have the ability to do many differnt types of work and can really develop ones bredth of banking knowledge.

Cons

The company's footprint for the most part is not glamourous. The only real metro areas in which the company operates is Cincinnati and Columbus. Most of the company is in Southeastern Ohio and West Virginia. There is also not much room for upward promotion unless you are willing to move to Wheeling, WV.
