Pros

The on site cafeteria and gym are about it.

Cons

I don't know how a company like Westat can be ok with boasting about being on the 2020 list for best employers for diversity. They placed #475 out of 500. In 2019, they were 279 out of 500. Neither of these spots is anything to celebrate but how can they be fine with such a huge drop and still proudly post it on their company website? When I worked here, it was alarming that every time I walked past the halls and saw manager meetings going on in the conference rooms, there were always white men and women in those seats, a few times, one Asian minority but never an African American or Hispanic. HR puts more emphasis on gender and experience than they do race and the potential to learn. It's no wonder younger staff of color leave within 1-2 years for better opportunities. My coworkers have told me horror stories of racism they experienced that got overlooked by HR. I myself experienced a situation where two white males made jokes about the Hispanic janitors in front of me. Why didn't I report it to HR? It's because HR handles complaints about racial discrimination very poorly. The more seniority you have here the lesser the chances are of you facing repercussions for your actions that clearly violate the company's so called zero tolerance discrimination policy. I feel bad for my coworkers of color that I left behind. They deserve so much better.

Pros

You can pick your own schedule ( But usually hours are very limited if any at all)

Cons

Low pay, Not enough hours to work they over hire. They treat you like your only a number even after giving then over 13 years of service. They dont give any type of pay for using your own phone ,internet and computer. No Vacation or holiday pay for employees that work from home and the list could go on forever!

Pros

Good to manage your own hours and travel. If you are good enough you will get an opportunity to travel to other locations and get per diem and other benefits.

Cons

Be very careful about who is your Field Manager. The game is very political and deniability of responsibility at this level. Many very nasty self important FM females who cannot be trusted to be at your back. Don't ask too many questions and try to get help unless the FM likes you. It makes no difference if you are a top producer or bottom level person the FM is the God of the kingdom and many rule with a bad attitude and my way or the highway mentality
