Pros

The benefits far outweigh any other company I've worked for. Sense of culture and company values are exhibited daily, and the foundation encourages employee engagement.!Strong management that encourages collaboration across groups. Great opportunities to grow if you know where to look for them.

Cons

Staffing budgets vary widely across department. Certain departments have high turnover, or temp employees that never learn their job. The long standing employees in those areas are overworked.

Pros

-Average Pay -Known Brand/Company -Work from home for some positions

Cons

1- BUREAUCRACY 2- Conservative 3- Difficult to Advance unless you work in Denver HQ's 4- Always working on improvements while never delivering on the improvements If you pay close attention to the official responses on Glassdoor reviews you will notice they only respond and thank to the positives one. That is a huge clue. They don't like nor they know how to handle criticism.

Western Union Response

Thanks for your review. We appreciate the feedback. While positive reviews are the easiest to respond to, we agree that providing responses to critical reviews are just as important, if not more so. Since the time of your review, we've made sure to pay more attention to the balance of our review responses. Regarding the specifics of your review, we acknowledge that at Western Union (WU), as with any large, global brand, there is some degree of complexity (and yes, at times, even bureaucracy) to the company. We're sorry your experience with WU wasn't ideal. We are committed to continuous improvement and are proud of the strides we have taken as a company over the last year, which we feel have helped address some of your concerns: • Implementation of the GPS (Guide. Perform. Succeed) management approach, which has shifted more ownership for performance to the micro-team level, and has put a much stronger emphasis on frequent alignments between leaders and their teams regarding things like priorities, performance and career development. This approach has been very well received. • You're right that we’ve invested heavily in technology and other improvements, and the process of innovation can take time to bear fruit, but 2016 has been an exciting year for us as products such as WU Connect (enabling third-party integrations with WU’s platform through APIs) and WU EDGE (our ground-breaking, cloud-based B2B payment platform) have been launched and/or expanded. We have also been hard at work expanding our global portfolio of mobile apps. Thanks again for your review. Best wishes in your future endeavors.
