Pros

Work from home. Amazing customers. Inbound calls only.

Cons

Whisker is disappointing to work for in the following ways Unfair pay. Not 1 person will make the same pay as you. Even colleagues who do the exact same job as you. You'll find out so and so makes several more dollars then you per hour. Your people talk whisker! They do not base pay off education, experience or even seniority. I have to assume it's based off race, age, and how well you can lie on a resume.. training is a joke. Due to the lack of knowledge and information their leads know. Leadership is in charge of training. I was trained by Kirby who clearly did not know what a blue flashing light even was. Only to find out 80% of customers calling with an issue is due to a blue flashing. Whisker- why does leadership get paid a very wealthy salary but is not inforced to have knowledge of the product- business they are being paid to lead their employees on? How does a director of your company not know what all flashing on a litter robot 3 means? But tells us the best practice to follow when trouble shooting???. Why does the director of this company fire anyone who questions her? Leadership (leads) should know their team members. At Whisker your lucky if your boss knows your first name. Whisker use to be a family- now it's so bad you question why you work there. Because anyone with any moral compass would steer far and clear. Communication is so bad. When you ask questions someone does not like, you'll Be called to a meeting to discuss the reasons you may not be a culture fit. Because you embarrassed someone or made it apparent they weren't doing their jobs. I've never worked for a place that favors new hires more then their OG's. They will post internal positions. Only to fill those positions from without. Leaving employees to feel hopeless, Helpless and to wonder why not me?? They will fill roles from outside the organization and those new hires will have better pay and better promotions and positions. And you will be asked to train the new hires! You will work so hard to be noticed.. Only to be told sorry we think you are the best fit in the role your already in. Although your college background and resume would argue. Whisker can't measure your success or how well you do your job. As they have no quality control, and no way to measure production. It's PAINFULLY obvious you'll go nowhere within the organization. But they will tell you... your growth is important to them. The very only way you'll be noticed at Whisker. Is if your a favorite .. which requires skills I've never acquired! OR care to. Leadership is not held accountable. When you question why they are not made to support or guide you... you guessed it.... bye bye! Leadership literally is pretty comparable too a paper weight. Useless. Jacob, are you aware that you have leaders who fake meetings? Who put stuff on their calanders only to look busy? Are you aware that most of. Your leaders don't have any idea what it means to lead? Are you aware that most of the leads can't be bothered with questions regarding your products? Most of Leadership couldn't tell you what fairly how well someone is doing!! Or have the skills to manage a team of individuals. You keep them in meetings all day... for what?? They don't bring anything back to your staff. They ignore messages, and tell you they are busy or in a meeting and your stuck trying of provide the best services to your customers. They cant help They literally don't know how to.. who's making sure they even do their jobs? The director is biased and morally incorrect when it comes to relationships she has with some of her staff. So much to the point you can't go to her with any struggles. All she will do is undermind you the entire time! That's not directing! That's being a bully and being intimidating. Why has the director started several months ago, but has yet to meet the entire team? I could go on forever. But I think I've said enough for now.. I hope you can get this organization back to the place people are proud to work for. Maybe you should listen to what ppl say in those surveys.

Pros

The litter robot and feeder robot are a fun and interesting products. There are lovely office cats. Should be full of opportunities?

Cons

The entire engineering division has become an after thought. All new ideas and innovation can only come from the outside or paid consultants. Engineering isn't allowed to solve or think about problems Whisker wants to solve for pet parents. The only thing the engineer team does is work on changes that have no basis in fact or data from leadership. As well as go over designs from a consultant, but aren't allowed to give any feedback on its plausibility or manufacturability. From the software side of a consumer product development, there is no ownership, direction, or roadmap. It's multiple silo'd teams that work independently and leadership gets surprised when deadlines aren't met and solutions don't function as intended. Bringing up issues or trying to have constructive criticism immediately gets you labeled as "too negative", once this happens you will no longer have any say or power to make the products better. As for management, there is none. It's a wired mix of VPs and Directors that are incapable of leading their respective teams or adequately communicate. Either from work overload, carrying about their own interests, or being overstepped by people above them. Teams never know what each other are doing or the current state of the whole product. While an attempt to bring PMs on board was made, they joined the team with no position or goals in mind. They were forced to kind of make themselves a place that didn't solve any of the managerial problems. As well as multiple PMs were not given any resources to work on their projects. Management only cares about aspects that they can show off to leadership. All the other important stuff in between is left for the few remaining engineers that still care. If you belong in that group prepare to be thrown under the bus at every given opportunity. As for pay, it's not competitive or equal. Talking to coworkers makes it apparent how wildly different it is depending on when hired, gender, and age. Definitely not based on title or seniority. It's better for software than the other engineering fields, but don't expect a great offer. Look around the area and you can see Whisker isn't it. Raises aren't great and have been frozen for over 6 months now. They haven't said anything, but cash flow appears to be an issue. If you want a crushing automotive style engineering environment, with even less effective management, non-competitive pay, but in a different setting, I guess it will be fine for you. I want to love Whisker, everything the work on is supposed to be fun and interesting! They promised change during yearly reviews, but after 6 months it's much worse now. I suspect attrition in engineering soon. I don't know about other departments except for customer service, which has a new interesting loss leading direction.
